No. A sharp phone photo of the print, taken flat in even light without glare, works well. A scan at 600 dpi gives the tool more to work with if you plan to print large.

Will restoration change the people?

No. Faces, expressions, clothing and period detail are preserved; only the damage and the fading are repaired. Compare every result with the original in the Studio.

Which order should I run the tools in?
